The day of cross country Air rushed past my face as I zoomed for the finish line. What place I came was unknown, but I didn’t care. All I knew was that I had done it. I finished cross country! The day of cross country had come and I was nervous. Quickly, I walked up to the starting line with the other participation girls and got ready to run. Mrs. Walker blew the whistle and I started to swing my legs. Left, right, left, right, over and over again. Halfway through the course my legs were tired, my lungs were burning and I had a stitch in my side. I tried to push through. Sadly, I couldn’t so I walked for a while. When I regained my energy, I started running again. As I ran I became aware of the pain stabbing on by side, but I ignored it, as I was determined to finish cross country. I ran and ran. Left, right, left, right. Nearing to the finish I came across Eden from Room 21. She was jogging and breathing heavily, “Go, go, go Eden!” I cheered her on, She smiled and jogged fas

Cross country! On Thursday all the seniors had cross country after morning tea. When the first lot went, butterflies were flying in my tummy. I was nervous. At last the year five competition girls went up the hill. ‘Phreeeeet!’ went the whistle. I tripped on the wet ground but it did not matter for me because l was luckily not the last girl. l was actually in front of (most) of the year five competitive girls. l zoomed down the steep hill and into the bushes. Finally l was second in the first quarter. I ran until my legs ached but Katie was too fast for me to catch up to her. I did my best, not stopping at the hills but just sprinting the whole way. The finish line was just there. My mum was shouting “Come on! Your nearly there!’’ I did it! I came second. My goal was always to come second. By Tilly

CROSS COUNTRY I was so hyped when I woke up. When we started running five people overtook me. Then I overtook two people. I kept on running to the finish. Zac was cheering me on. Then I zoomed down the finish line. And I couldn't feel my legs. When I went past the finish line I got my drink and poured it on my head. And it felt great. After we watched how to train your dragon. My day was awesome. By Jace

Cross Country I ran up the hill zooming past the others. I was breathing fast. When I entered the bush my shoelaces got untied. That was a problem. I had to stop and tie them up. I was falling behind. I ran out of the bush and on the sidewalk. I felt like my legs were going to fall off. Later I past Mrs Berghmans. She gave me a coupon. It was worth fifty house points! I was inside the school. I raced forward as people cheered. I was in fifth place. I walked back to the hall. They started handing out the awards. Four people from our class came in the top three. Katie even got a trophy for coming first. I wanted to start all over. By Meher

Cross country It was so boring...until you could hear their footsteps thundering. “Here they come!’’ everyone shouted. I had butterflies in my stomach. Who would come first? How do they do that? I  thought. I saw Mario. Seth was right behind him. Mario zoomed down the finish line 1st Mario  2nd Seth 3rd Daunte. When Mario flashed down the track, it was like watching lightning strike. lt was so cool. Splat splat splat. lt felt like acid-rain was falling after Mario sped across the race track. After all that acid-rain, lightning, the flashing and the participation and stuff there was a movie. lt was awesome. Then there was the ultimate prize giving. By Zac
