Cross country
It was so boring...until you could hear their footsteps
thundering. “Here they come!’’ everyone shouted.
I had butterflies in my stomach. Who would come first?
How do they do that? I  thought. I saw Mario. Seth was right behind him. Mario zoomed down the finish line
1st Mario  2nd Seth 3rd Daunte.
When Mario flashed down the track, it was like watching
lightning strike. lt was so cool. Splat splat splat. lt felt like
acid-rain was falling after Mario sped across the race track.
After all that acid-rain, lightning, the flashing and the participation and stuff there was a movie. lt was awesome.
Then there was the ultimate prize giving.

Cross Country I ran up the hill zooming past the others. I was breathing fast. When I entered the bush my shoelaces got untied. That was a problem. I had to stop and tie them up. I was falling behind. I ran out of the bush and on the sidewalk. I felt like my legs were going to fall off. Later I past Mrs Berghmans. She gave me a coupon. It was worth fifty house points! I was inside the school. I raced forward as people cheered. I was in fifth place. I walked back to the hall. They started handing out the awards. Four people from our class came in the top three. Cross Country recount by Erin

The day of cross country Air rushed past my face as I zoomed for the finish line. What place I came was unknown, but I didn’t care. All I knew was that I had done it. I finished cross country! The day of cross country had come and I was nervous. Quickly, I walked up to the starting line with the other participation girls and got ready to run. Mrs. Walker blew the whistle and I started to swing my legs. Left, right, left, right, over and over again. Halfway through the course my legs were tired, my lungs were burning and I had a stitch in my side. I tried to push through. Sadly, I couldn’t so I walked for a while. When I regained my energy, I started running again. As I ran I became aware of the pain stabbing on by side, but I ignored it, as I was determined to finish cross country. I ran and ran.
